Open Decks Worldwide is built to collect as little personal information as possible. This page explains what little there is.
No accounts, no tracking of visitors
There are no user accounts, logins, or profiles on this Site, and we do not run any analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. We don't know who you are when you browse the Site, and we don't want to.
The one exception: your browser's light/dark theme choice is saved
locally on your own device using localStorage. It never leaves your
browser and is never sent to us.
If you use the "📍 Near me" feature, your location is requested directly by your browser's built-in geolocation API and used only to sort events by distance, entirely on your device — it's never transmitted to or stored by us.
Google Search Console
We use Google Search Console to monitor how the Site appears in Google Search (e.g., indexing status, search queries that lead to the Site, crawl errors). This is aggregated, anonymized search-performance data provided by Google — it does not tell us who any individual visitor is. Google's own privacy practices apply to how they collect and process this data; see Google's Privacy Policy.
Hosting
The Site is a static website hosted on Microsoft Azure (Azure Static Web Apps), served from United States datacenters. Standard web server logs (e.g., IP address, request time, requested page) may be collected briefly by Microsoft's hosting infrastructure for security and operational purposes, under Microsoft's Privacy Statement. We do not access, process, or retain these logs ourselves.
Event and venue submissions
If you submit a venue or event:
- Via GitHub pull request — your GitHub username and submission are public as part of GitHub's platform, per GitHub's Privacy Statement.
- Via email — we receive your email address and message as sent. We use this only to verify and, if needed, follow up about the submission. We do not publish your email address, name, or any other sender details alongside the published listing — only the venue/event information itself goes live. Submission emails are not sold, shared with third parties, or used for any purpose beyond verifying and publishing that specific submission.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you're in the EU/EEA (or anywhere with similar data protection law), you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you (which, in practice, is at most a submission email you sent us), and to request its correction or deletion. Our legal basis for briefly processing a submission email is our legitimate interest in verifying and publishing accurate event listings. To make a request, email submit@opendecks.xyz.
Venue and event data isn't "your" data
Published listings (venue names, addresses, event times, links, etc.) describe public businesses and public events, not private individuals. If you're a venue owner or event organizer and want a listing corrected or removed, email submit@opendecks.xyz and we'll handle it promptly.

This policy may be updated as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
